Seems a waste to replace them because the boot tore, but there is no way in hell I'm going to pay over $50 (with tax) for a rubber ball end joint boot from Toyota. WebbYour only option is to replace the tie rod end. Just do it. Don't try to fill it with grease or bother trying to replace the boot. Gwt a new one and save yourself a lot of trouble. Invest in a tie rod remover that does not contact the boot, similar to a 2 jaw puller. I think harbor freight sells one, cheap. Overnight or find a new end locally. Webb11 maj 2015 · This is with boots off btw. If the rod falls quickly or flops freely then it's time for new inner tie rods, which from most places are purchased with outers too. Aren't too many places that sell just inner tie rod ends anymore. I think I got my boots from RA, seemed to be decent but they weren't a name brand. I think Qualis was the box label. Webb23 aug. 2024 · In the process of examining that, I noticed that the boots are torn on a lot of the other front end suspension parts (it's a 2006, with 175K). The boots on the ball joints of the lower control arms on both sides are torn. The boot on the tire rod end is torn on one side. And the boots on the stabilizer links are torn.
