Dead end as a noun
Web“Dead end" is a noun. Also referred to as cul-de-sac, it is used to denote roads that come to an end with no exit. (I wonder if you are confusing ‘deadened' with ‘dead end'. See second part of my answer.) If you wish to use it as a verb or an adjective, you have to say “dead-end" or “dead-ended" (with hyphen).
