WebAug 18, 2005 · There are two PCA based linear techniques: the recently published Bayesian missing value estimation method for gene expressions ( Oba et al ., 2003) which is based on Bayesian principal component analysis (BPCA) ( Bishop, 1999) and probabilistic PCA (PPCA) ( Verbeek et al ., 2002) based on Roweis, (1997). Webtechniques similar to what Ilin and Raiko (2010) propose for Bayesian PCA could be adopted to handle missing data. In terms of classical models, the model can be interpreted as CCA complemented by two sep-arate FA models (or PCA models if assuming isotropic noise) factorizing the residuals of the CCA within each data set.

WebPCA is the most attractive as a Bayesian PCA method. This paper is organized as follows. In Section 2, we for-mulate PPCA, and introduce approximation methods to the fully Bayesian inference. In Section 3, we derive the analytic-form solution for PB-PCA, and discuss its behav-ior in comparison with VB-PCA. In Section 4, we intro-

This is a well known problem, bPCA’s have no unique solution. Without constraints, the solutions are at best symmetrical, at worse identical under any rotation, in any case subject to label switching.
